Hello. This is my first ever blog post. I’m hoping to use this blog to publish snippets and longer articles about things I encounter during my working life. As I’m a, err.., well I don’t have a job title but I guess IT consultant or software engineer or maybe programmer are all applicable, anyway I’m expecting the blog to be mainly a list of gotchas and other neat things I find in the world of internet marketing, Java / JEE, Python / Zope / Plone.
I’m using wordpress hosted on my company’s virtual server. It’s a debian distro and had Apache, MySql and PHP all installed to start with. The wordpress install is meant to be very easy but took me a while. I’d installed MySql 5.1 manually a while back (there wasn’t a packaged version) and had managed to break PHP / MySql when I did. I bit the bullet and installed PHP 5.3 and Apache 2.2 from scratch and here I am.
I guess the next step is to start backing up the blog and also do some work creating a basic look and feel for my site.
